MADRID

"Welcome to Madrid, the capital of Spain since 1.562; It is an appallingly monumental city, with a wide cultural offer: museums, parks, art galleries...
Famous for its vivid nightlife, combines modern theatres with pubs, sharing the streets with olds style bars with the reminiscences and charm of old Austria's Dynasty.
The hospitality and warm character of its people will make things easy to get to know new friends.
We are waiting for you to live with us this marvelous experience."

Salvador Gonzalez

  The City

Madrid is the capital city of Spain, located in the center of the Iberian Peninsula. Because of this strategic position, Madrid is the crossroad for almost everything in Spain: National and multinational companies, historic-artistic monuments, concerts, exhibitions, flamenco, festivals and popular parties...
Madrid has also a remarkable collection of museums and galleries, beautiful parks and gardens and a wild nightlife. In short, a very lively and exciting city, with a high level of safeties and humanity.

The most exciting street is La Gran Vía, but the Plaza Mayor is the true heart of Madrid. One of the greatest art galleries in the world, the Museo del Prado, exhibits mainly Spanish, Flemish and Italian art from the 15th to 19th century. Goya is well represented and you'll find a wealth of paintings by Diego Velázquez. If you haven't run out of steam after the Prado, the Casón del buen Retiro houses an excellent collection of 19th-century Spanish art. For one of the best art history lesson you'll ever get, check out the Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza, a private assembly of paintings from Titian to Pollock. The "Museo de la Escultura Abstracta", has an interesting collection of abstracts by some of Spain's better known modern sculptors, including Chillida and Miró.
The beautiful Real Jardín Botánico, near the Prado, is a good spot to recover from an art overdose.
For the little bit of interior decorator in everyone, the Palacio Real, with some of the most elaborately decorated walls and ceilings imaginable. The Catedral de Nuestra Señora de la Almudena, opened to the public in 1.992 after only 110 year under construction.

Puerta de Alcalá
Puerta de Alcalá - Madrid

If you like football matches, Real Madrid and Atlético de Madrid play here. On Sunday morning you may find great bargains at El Rastro, one of the biggest flea markets you are ever likely to see. The epicenter of Madrid's nightlife is Plaza del Dos de Mayo, in the area known as Malasaña.

  The School

In the heart of Madrid, with easy access to all interesting sites, our school in Madrid is fully equipped with multimedia and computer room, library, meeting room with reading, video and audio facilities, uninterrupted secretariat, and all necessary services and teaching tools for your language learning.

  Celebrations and festivals

In the second half of May, Madrid celebrates in honor of San Isidro. The celebrations are accompanied by typical Madrid folklore, including Fair and Dances that are organized on the meadow of San Isidro, where the people of Madrid sing, dance and enjoy themselves next to the Hermitage of their Patron Saint.
At the same time, there are ballet and opera performances as well as the traditional bullfights at the bullring of Las Ventas.

  Our Opinion

Madrid is the cosmopolite city among cities; It gathers all characteristics that flatter any European city. There is a complete interactive atmosphere. Huge green sites and the continuous flow of businessmen and students. Madrid owns a vivid nightlife and you can also share the view of some pubs with appearance of the old years. It is in fact, a place worth visiting and getting lost, to anyone who wants to enjoy a unique experience.

  F. Bertholle
"At the university in Toulouse I took an extensive optional subject of Spanish Language and Literature.
Because I am aiming for an international working environment, I wanted to see my knowledge of Spanish officially recognized. (...) The preparation course was ideal for the examination, very specific and just with like-minded students.
In the end, I scored very well in all parts of the DELE-examination.
